Is that it? Is Summer over? Are we actually over half way through the year?!
August has been somewhat of a dissappointment being it the first Summer ever where I haven’t had time off (booo!!) and have worked the whole way through. I also haven’t been away, which in itself is a bit sad aswell (I know, I know, first world problems).
However, I have enjoyed August for a number of reasons. Firstly, my boyfriend and I moved into our first little place (aren’t we cute) and so, it has been somewhat hectic. Secondly, my family home also moved house, so in a month I have had to make two new places feel like home (which, actually, was easier than I thought considering they are lovely places to live!).
This month I have been really watching what I buy, and I am becoming much more conscious about my shopping decisions. Watching that what I am buying is not only ethical but is also deciding upon a good decision and investment purchase rather than impulse buying. It has been hard, yes, with some purchase more failed than others admittedly. But it is a process and a challenge that I am hoping to delve into over the next few months as I feel it to be really important.
Anyway, without any more rambling…
The Body Shop Vitamin E Aqua Boost Sorbet – Sight, Smell, Touch
I can’t describe how good this is without showing you, which I can’t through a blog!
I got this, firstly, because the main one I use (Vitamin E Day Cream) is an extortionate £18
and I can’t bring myself to pay that much for moisturiser. I also am not sure I have ever seen this before, but I was so intrigued by the weird but lovely ‘sorbet’ which feels a bit like putting your finger into a cushion of moisturiser.
At first, the feeling of the moisturiser is weird, almost as if it tingles and becomes overpowering because of how thick it is and, admittedly, I was worried that it was going to make my skin super greasy. But… it never happened. It actually has helped my skin so much for the air-con season and really given it a hydration kick which is what I needed! I
would recommend this to everyone with dry skin.
Kiko makeup – Sight, Touch
I have only really ever tried Kiko’s limited edition summer range for the powder (featured here) but I really needed a new concealer and to find a dupe for a Mac lipstick, so I visited the (relatively) new store in Bath. I will go into this in a bit more detail in another post, so keep your eyes peeled!
The Body Shop Foundation ‘024 Hawaii Macadamia’ – Sight, Touch
It was about time that I tried a new foundation, and invested into one that I liked and would become my new staple. I have been searching high and low, avoiding high end because of my nightmare with Estee Lauder’s double wear (break out galore) and because I can’t bring myself to have a foundation cost that is more than my food bill.
I tend get to the end of my (very long) work day and my makeup has come off, my mascara half way down my face, etc. etc. Not pretty. But this foundation is really natural, non-greasy, glides well onto the skin and just stays put. I have been waiting for this foundation, it is light-weight and actually sinks into the skin without being heavy and sticky. This foundation is a game-changer.
Lush Face and Body Cleanser – Touch, Smell, Sight
This has saved my life. I cannot comprehend. I use this everyday to take my makeup off and it is so so good. My skin is really struggling recently and I am experiencing a lot of breakouts, dry skin, oily skin, the lot. The natural ingredients of rose absolute, lavender, chamomile blue and I am sure some sort of oats for the scrub really help to even out the skin, get rid of any dead cells and dry areas, and treat the nasties. My new personal fave.
Cheerz – sight
My sister introduced me to Cheerz, a photo app where you can order prints, pictures, photo albums, canvas’s etc. for a really good price. I usually use freeprints but I thought I would give it a go and, let me tell you, I was not disappointed.
I opted for ‘square and retro prints’ which is a mimic of polaroids, and the quality is really great, the pictures are soft and bright and came at a really good time. Really impressed for such a good price, £3 for 10 pictures!! With cute packaging, messages and way better than buying a polaroid!
If you would like to try it, download the app and use my referral code FOXLP9 for a £4 discount when you spend over £8 (really easy to do but so worth it) :-) you will not regret it!
The Olympics – sight
It was so exciting to watch Rio 2016 this year, with, obviously, my personal favourite being the gymnastics. I really wanted to do a blog post on my favourite leotards and actually accidentally posted it but I have been doing some reading and apparently they are being strict with content copyright etc. However, it was so fascinating to watch and entertaining. It was great.
As always, what have your favourites been this month? Let me know in the comments and link any posts, it is one of my favourites to read every month :-)
