With only a few weeks left to go, we are now in the last month of 2016. Then, that will be it… 2016 will be gone forever. Wow.
It is a weird and wonderful awakening when you feel like time is running out. Yes, 2017 will come along and January 1st will mark the point of time in which you are able to make amends, have a new start, make a change. But we need to make the most of 2016 while we’ve got it.
1. Write a letter to yourself
Reflect on the year, the memories, and all that you’ve done. Perhaps along the way you’ll realise how much you’ve learnt, grown, and accomplished over the last year. It is always easy to see past what you have done when you are doing it daily, but once you look back and realise how much has changed from this time last year, it is crazy!
2. Wake up earlier than you need to
Even if just for one day and seeing the morning before the rest of the world does. It is just a peaceful place when there is nobody else around, and is definitely the most peaceful time of day. Enjoying the crisp quiet of the morning, gathering your thoughts together and setting out your plans for the day. Just you and your thoughts.
3. Read a book
You know that read you picked up at the start of the year but just haven’t got around to reading yet? Why not try now? Now that the Winters coming along, it is getting darker and colder out there and you just really can’t be bothered to go outside, what better time to get stuck in to a good story?
4. Sort out the things you’ve put aside
All of the things that you’ve put off or just simply haven’t had the time to do. Do them now! The people you probably should see, the appointments you need to make, the to-do lists that just keep. getting. longer. Just allocate some time to organise before the holidays come in so you have some time to relax over the Christmas period.
5. Say ‘love you’
It is the happiest time of year – the time of reflection, the time of family, the time of love and the time to give thanks to the things you are grateful for. But when was the last time you told the people around you that you love them? Start now!
6. Declutter your space
I love getting to this time of year and reorganising my life and just sorting through the shit I don’t need. Like all of the letters you’ve just chucked in a drawer that you hoped would go away if you waited long enough. Or the clothes that you really don’t need that you can take to the charity shop. Decluttering your space will make you feel so much more relaxed and ready for the new year.
7. 2016/2017 resolutions
Remember, that list you made a few months ago that you told yourself you would accomplish? Well… did you? Don’t worry, I definitely have some left over. But are there any you could do now, whilst you are thinking about it? There is also a chance here to think about what you want to accomplish in 2017 too.
